Workshop Themes & Descriptions:
Each workshop listed below uses music, songwriting and self-expression. Kids are given the opportunity to celebrate who they are, where they come from and where they are going. All workshops are inspired by original songs written by Sara O’Brien & the HoneyBabes.
Anti-bullying WorkshopBeing Weird is Cool School: A workshop program to boost self confidence, pride and to end being bullied! This interactive workshop addresses the needs of both the bully and those being bullied. "Being Weird is Cool School" deals with issues of self-esteem by encouraging self-expression. If we are confident about ourselves, the more likely we are to stand up for ourselves and the more success we'll have throughout our lives. “There’s always someone who thinks that you’re weird. There’s always someone who is weirder that you. There’s always someone that you’re weirder than, BEING WEIRD IS COOL!”
I really like NJ (Fly me to my Home): A workshop to celebrate community, specifically the community where you live. Inspired by “The New Jersey Song” and “Fly me to my Home” song, this workshop will encourage students to take pride in their community however big or small, rich or poor. Kids will learn history, share stories and learn that what they do and where they live matters.
Trampoline: An inspiring and interactive workshop created as a result of Sara O'Brien's trampoline experience..."She woke up unexpectedly at 3:30 a.m. Aug. 11 realizing “something was dreadfully wrong.” She and her roommate escaped the smoke-and-flame engulfed house through a second floor window. O’Brien actually jumped onto a trampoline below….” This workshop emphasizing health, wellness, creativity, confidence, self-expression, and self-esteem.
“Life in like a trampoline, you’ll always bounce back, bounce higher or find firm ground to land upon, and in the midst of the heaviness, there is happiness, humor and joy to be found in jumping." Sara O'Brien
